Yes, there is a photograph in there, but the original picture was all pencil before I edited it, so I submitted it to traditional art.
This was something that turned out completely unexpected... The mouth of the carrot (left) was originally the beginnings of a head, but I lost interest, so I turned it into a big, goofy mouth. Then, for no reason, and suspecting that it would turn out horribly, I just started turning it into a vegetable, and viola... the theme was created.
The story is that a tribe of roots and vegetables recently found out that the tomato was a fruit (I didn't know until sixth grade). Outraged, they sacrifice him to the fire god while chanting and dancing around the fire. Can you spot the other fruit in the picture? The veggies haven't found him out yet, but when they do...
I left this as B&W trying to capture a horror mood, but I don't know whether it would look better with color or not... Let me know what you think!
